Connecting the Dots

Questions often have no answers. Why do things happen as they do? Why did my roommate die on her honeymoon? Why do jobs have to change? Why did that friend not love me enough? How come my parents couldn’t stay together? Why do friends come and go? Why did that accident occur? Good questions; I can’t answer.
But I know the One who can. God has designed my life and although I can’t or don’t always understand, he is forever at work. He connects the dots. God works things out for the good…… I will never understand why my roommate died and eight days after her wedding I was at her funeral. But I know this……my future husband was sitting in the church that day.
Jobs change often times because our gifts and talents are needed elsewhere. It is easier to stay in our comfort zone instead of branching out. Yet, all the time God is leading us and teaching us, He is connecting the dots of people we will meet. Some folks we may need while some may need us.
Heartbrokenness happens when we have been rejected. Putting your trust in someone you thought would be there forever. We agonize over the why or what if in our relationships with others. But honestly, people just change….period. And one truth you can take to the bank….hurt people – hurt people. Often, I haven’t understood why friends have come and gone in my life. Yet looking back I can see that God had a plan while he was connecting my dots.
Circumstances mold me and shape me into my calling. At the time, not seeing why a situation happened, yet years later I am able to look back and see His Hand in it. The good things, the bad things and the ugly things – God was connecting the dots.
I still don’t have answers, but I see God’s handiwork. Divine appointments scattered throughout my life, which become more apparent daily. He’s had it all under control. His pen was drawing the little lines that would one day become a box.  I am able to see His divine appointments every day. Each person I see, every road I travel, all classes I attend, every client I serve is an opportunity to connect one more dot.
You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You’re blessed when you follow his directions, doing your best to find him. That’s right—you don’t go off on your own; you walk straight along the road he set. You, God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it. Psalm 119:1-4 The Message

Love this one! Recently, our grandson, Cody, and I have started doing dot-to-dot books together and we LOVE it because we get to connect the numbers to see what the picture is! I have shared with him that this is how God works in our lives, He connects the dots with every thing we do, and makes a beautiful picture!
