Fear Takes The Best Of Us

Fear has struck……
I feel stuck.
Why is it that fear attempts to take the “best” of us, not the worst? Fear tries to grip the things we are good at, not the bad things, and then leaves us inoperative.
Working through a mind-full of “clutter thoughts’, I let my guard down. Similar to lying in the warm sand on the beach, I relaxed my guard and took a nap. But when I awoke, I was buried up to my neck in sand and unable to move.
Fear had me buried……
Someone recently posted a note that said something like, “If the enemy can’t invade your space, he will use someone who has access to your space.” And who has first access? Your family…….
The panic of not being able to do something intensified……..
My cluttered thoughts were…
  • What if they ___________?
  • What if they don’t ____________?
  • How can they________?
  • Will I ____________?
  • Where will they _____________?
  • God, are you there?
And because my mind is so full of clutter turning to fear….. I can’t write. The onslaught of:
  • who are you to write a book on marriage,
  • why would people listen to you,
  • it will never get published,
……..permeated my thoughts as the fear continues to mount……
Talking through this with my husband this morning, he unburied me from that sand pile.
As I shared my fears with him of feeling like the enemy was winning with our kids, the book, the family, and his company, he calmly, said, “I don’t believe that. He is not winning at anything. He WANTS YOU to believe that he is but it is not the truth.”
We read together a passage my sister in law had read to me yesterday. Ephesians 6:11 & 13 says, Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.  Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. (The Amplified Bible)
So that we can successfully stand up against ALL the strategies and the deceits of the devil, we are to put on the WHOLE armor of God. The armor that God supplies. Twice we are told to put on the WHOLE armor. We can’t leave one piece off.
That’s what I had done! I had removed a piece of my armor and instead of being able to stand my ground, I got knocked right off my feet and buried in the process.
Thank you Lord for giving Don the gift of once again coming to my rescue……..

That is so true Carol. It's not EASY but it is possible….I had dropped my sheild of faith, but it is back in place now. What is your experience with fear?

It is amazing when you come out the other side of fear – straight into faith – that those things that caused the fear seem so small…… I love this Terri!
