STUCK IN THE MIDDLE

Music has played a large part of my life. Yes, I’ve lived through the era of 45’s, 8-tracks, vinyl albums, cassettes, CD’s and now itunes. I have any music at my fingertips.
The kids and I used to play a game in the car while on road trips when the “scan” feature came out on the car stereo. We would push the scan button and let the radio just scan through all the stations. The object of the game was to name the song or the band that was playing as quickly as you could. My kids know their classic rock!
Music is so engrained in my mind that certain buzz words instantly take me to a song. For instance, take the word satisfaction. I instantly hear Mick Jagger declaring, “I can’t get no satisfaction…” Or when I hear anticiapation, I hear Carly Simon singing,  “Anticipation…it’s making me wait, it’s keepin me wai..ai..ai..ai..a…tin.”
This morning while reading in Deuteronomy out of nowhere I starting humming a one hit wonder by the band Stealers Wheel titled, “Stuck in the Middle with You.” Yes, I’m stuck in the middle with you, and I’m wondering what it is I should do……
Have you ever felt stuck? Stuck in the middle of something where you are not sure if you should go back or keep trying to move forward.
At times I feel stuck in relationships. Finding myself in the middle of a mess for I am not sure how I got there or how to get out.

Fear gets me stuck every time. Caught in a paralyzing grasp and afraid there is not way out of it. I will expound on this in my next blog entry…..
Sometimes I feel stuck in my marriage. Now before you gasp….I mean the sense that we are coasting with no sense of direction. A feeling like we are just floating in the middle of a lake therefore not going anywhere.
Similar were the Israelites. They were set free from Egypt and set out on an 11 day journey but they got stuck in the middle. Forty years…..they were stuck.   Forty years……when they finally got out. Forty years…….of wandering, whining, and willfully living in opposition to God.
Like me, could they also have been singing…and I wonder what it is I should do?
What do we do when we are stuck?
· Pray without ceasing. Pray continually. 1 Thes 5:17
· Lay aside every weight that hinders. Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perserverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1
· Seek help. Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed. Proverbs 15:22
Stuck is defined as being jammed, caught or held in an immovable position; not able to find a solution or way out of a situation; pierced by a sharp object.
Friends that is no way to live…….
Yes, at times we are tempted to give up and stay stuck. We sometimes can’t find our way out of a situation, or we stay wounded after we’ve been pierced with words, circumstances or friends.
Everyone is challenged in their lifetime. Yet it’s those who continually work through and come out the other side that are victorious.
Lovingly can I give you a little nudge? Much can be gleened from 1 Corinthians 10:13:
©      The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience….
©      And God is faithful….
©      He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand….
©      When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure….
Stay stuck or move on? The choice is yours…….

Yes, great timing! I will commit to this and not take to heart the hurtful words someone else writes (for the entire world to see!). Funnys pics, too. Update: 32 years ~
